Driving rain and hail reduced visibility and made flintlock muskets extremely difficult to use just as enemy cavalry approached the exposed British flank.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe resulting charge by the \u003cstrong\u003eVistula Legion lancers and French 2nd Hussars\u003c\/strong\u003e tore into infantry still deployed in line.
