The British Ordnance QF 6-pounder became one of the most important Allied anti-tank guns of the Second World War.

Entering service in 1942, it provided British and Commonwealth forces with a much-needed improvement in anti-armour capability and saw service in North Africa, Europe and other theatres. The design was also adopted by the United States as the 57mm Gun M1.
