About The Military Workshop

Preserving History Since 1997

The Military Workshop is an Australian specialist military collectibles and medal services business with a history stretching back to 1997.

Established by Brett and Gerelou Williams following their arrival in Australia from Hong Kong, the business grew from Brett's lifelong interest in military and historical subjects. A former Royal Hong Kong Police Officer, Brett took early retirement around the time of the handover of Hong Kong to China. His passion for military history was also influenced by his father's service in the British Army.

That passion became The Military Workshop — a business dedicated to preserving and sharing military history through highly detailed historical miniatures, collectibles, replica medals and professional medal services.

From Brisbane to Warwick – A New Chapter

The Military Workshop opened its first retail shop at Mt Gravatt in 1998. In 2001, the business relocated to Stafford on Brisbane's north side before moving to the Enoggera/Gaythorne area in 2005, where it became well known among collectors, veterans, serving Defence personnel and the wider military community.

In 2026, Louise and Steve became the new owners of The Military Workshop, continuing the business Brett and Gerelou had built over almost three decades.

The business has now relocated to Warwick, Queensland, where a new chapter in The Military Workshop story is underway.

While our location has changed, our commitment remains the same: providing quality military collectibles, knowledgeable personal service and professional medal services to customers throughout Australia and overseas.

For our Brisbane medal customers, we also maintain a convenient medal drop-off and collection point at iKoniK Vintage, 418 Samford Road, Gaythorne, with regular collections and returns by The Military Workshop.

More Than Just Collectibles

At The Military Workshop, we believe military miniatures are much more than simply collectibles.

They are miniature pieces of history.

Every figure, vehicle and diorama piece can represent a particular person, regiment, campaign, battle or moment in history. Together, they provide collectors with an extraordinary way to recreate and preserve stories from the past.

Our collections span thousands of years of military history — from the armies of the ancient world through to the major conflicts of the twentieth century and beyond.

Collectors can explore subjects including:

  • Ancient Greece, Rome and the Trojan War
  • Crusaders & Saracens
  • Medieval warfare
  • Napoleonics
  • American Civil War
  • Anglo-Zulu War
  • Australian Light Horse
  • Gallipoli
  • World War I
  • World War II
  • D-Day & Normandy
  • Operation Market Garden
  • Kokoda
  • Lawrence of Arabia
  • Vietnam
  • The Falklands War
  • And many other important periods of military history

Military Miniatures From Leading Makers

We proudly offer military miniatures and collectibles from some of the world's most respected manufacturers, including King & Country, John Jenkins Designs, Thomas Gunn Miniatures, Team Miniatures and W. Britain.

These makers are renowned among collectors for their attention to historical detail, accurately represented uniforms and equipment, characterful sculpting and their ability to bring important moments in history to life in miniature.

Whether you're an established collector, building a particular historical display or purchasing your very first military miniature, we're always happy to assist.

Professional Medal Services

Military history isn't only something we collect — for many of our customers, it is also part of their own family or service history.

The Military Workshop provides professional medal mounting and replica medal services for serving and former Australian Defence Force personnel, veterans, families and collectors.

Our services include:

  • Full-size medal mounting
  • Miniature medal mounting
  • Ribbon bars
  • Replica and replacement medals
  • Clasps and medal accessories
  • Remounting of existing medal groups
  • Supply and mounting of complete medal sets

Our medal services are available to customers throughout Australia, with medals able to be sent to us by post as well as dropped off at our Warwick location or our convenient Brisbane collection point at Gaythorne.

Continuing the Story

After almost three decades, The Military Workshop continues to evolve — but the reason behind the business remains remarkably similar to when it began in 1997.

A fascination with history. A respect for service. And a desire to keep the stories of the past alive.

For collectors, that might mean finding the final figure needed to complete a display or discovering an entirely new period of history to collect.

For our medal customers, it might mean preparing medals to be proudly worn on ANZAC Day, creating a replica set so treasured originals can be preserved, or helping a family honour the service of someone important to them.

Whatever brings you to The Military Workshop, we look forward to helping you.
