39GG-05 – Two Infantry Skirmishing, 39th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment

The 39th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment, famously known as the Garibaldi Guard, was one of the most distinctive Union regiments of the American Civil War. Raised in New York City in 1861, its ranks included immigrants from several European nations, reflecting the remarkably diverse population of the city.

39GG-05 – Two Infantry Skirmishing depicts two Garibaldi Guardsmen operating in the looser formation used by skirmishers. Moving ahead of the main body, skirmishers could probe enemy positions, provide warning of approaching troops and engage opposing soldiers before the main battle lines met.

The two active poses are ideal for placing ahead of a larger Garibaldi Guard formation, adding movement and tactical variety to a Civil War battlefield.
