ACE-201P – Josef “Pips” Priller and Friend

Josef “Pips” Priller was one of Germany’s leading fighter pilots of the Second World War, achieving more than 100 aerial victories during his Luftwaffe career. He became particularly well known for his service on the Western Front and his association with Jagdgeschwader 26.

Priller entered aviation legend on D-Day, 6 June 1944, when he and his wingman carried out a low-level attack over the Allied invasion beaches in Normandy. The dramatic incident became one of the better-known Luftwaffe actions associated with the invasion.
