ACE-46 – Sopwith Camel B6299 – No. 10 Naval Squadron, Teteghem, Late 1917 – Flt. Lt. N.M. MacGregor
The Sopwith Camel became one of the most famous Allied fighters of the First World War. Highly manoeuvrable in experienced hands and armed with twin synchronised machine guns, it proved particularly effective during the intense air fighting of 1917 and 1918.
ACE-46 recreates Sopwith Camel B6299, associated with Flight Lieutenant N.M. MacGregor of No. 10 Naval Squadron at Teteghem during late 1917.
The Camel marked another stage in the rapid development of British naval fighter aviation, following aircraft such as the Sopwith Triplane that had previously equipped the squadron.
The Military Workshop offers ACE-46 as a beautifully distinctive John Jenkins aircraft for collectors of Royal Naval Air Service and First World War aviation.
