By the 4th century BC, the Achaemenid Persian military had undergone considerable development as its rulers confronted changing threats both within the empire and along its frontiers. Among the infantry associated with these later Persian armies were the Kardakes.

AP-34L – Persian Kardake Infantry brings together four figures, creating an impressive ready-made group for collectors building this element of the Persian army. The larger set provides immediate depth to a formation and can be combined with individual Kardake releases to create an even more substantial body of troops.

Displayed alongside Persian archers, spearmen, cavalry and command figures, the Kardakes help illustrate the remarkable range of troop types available to the Achaemenid kings.
