GG-01 – General Frederic Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford
Lieutenant-General Frederic Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford, commanded British forces during the opening stages of the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879.
His reputation became inseparably linked with the devastating British defeat at Isandlwana on 22 January 1879, when much of the central invasion column's camp was overwhelmed by the Zulu army while Chelmsford was away with a substantial part of his force.
He continued in command and later led British forces at the Battle of Ulundi, the engagement that effectively broke the military power of the Zulu kingdom.
GG-01 portrays this important and controversial commander, providing a key personality for any comprehensive Anglo-Zulu War collection.
Available from The Military Workshop – a historically significant John Jenkins Designs portrayal of Lord Chelmsford, commander of British forces during one of the Victorian era's most famous colonial wars.
