GGM-02 – Royal Marine Light Infantry

The Royal Marine Light Infantry served Britain's naval interests both afloat and ashore, providing trained infantry capable of operating wherever the Royal Navy required them.

During the Anglo-Zulu War, Royal Marines formed part of the Naval Brigade, bringing sailors and marines into a campaign fought far from the sea.

GGM-02 represents Royal Marine Light Infantry and provides a distinctive alternative to the regular British Army regiments within an Eshowe Relief Column collection.

Their naval connection gives them a particularly interesting place among the forces of 1879.
