INCA-03 – Inca Halberdier
At the beginning of the 16th century, the Inca Empire – Tawantinsuyu – was the largest state in the pre-Columbian Americas, extending along much of the Andean region of western South America.
Its armies drew upon the enormous manpower and resources of an empire connected by an extensive road system.
INCA-03 – Inca Halberdier represents a warrior equipped with a long-handled pole weapon, giving the figure a distinctive silhouette within an Inca formation.
Inca armies employed a variety of weapons, including spears, slings, clubs and axes. Troops could be drawn from different regions of the empire, bringing some variation in equipment and fighting traditions into the imperial army.
The polearm gives INCA-03 considerable presence when placed among shorter-armed warriors. He can stand in a formed body of troops, protect a command figure or be positioned where the Inca line is beginning to engage Spanish or indigenous opposing forces.
