JAN-16 – Zihril Nefer “Armoured Assault Soldiers”
An Ottoman assault force gains an entirely different visual character when the Zihril Nefer enter the scene.
JAN-16 represents these armoured troops as a distinct fighting element rather than ordinary line infantry. Their heavier protection immediately suggests men intended for the most dangerous close-quarter situations.
Such figures are particularly well suited to a siege or fortress assault. Ottoman military history contains numerous major siege operations in which artillery, infantry and specialist troops had to work together to overcome fortified positions.
Position JAN-16 near a breach, gateway or defensive wall with ordinary Janissaries following behind. The resulting arrangement gives the figures a clear tactical purpose within the scene.
They can equally form a compact body of armoured troops on an open battlefield, providing a striking contrast to the firearm-equipped infantry around them.
