JAN-26 – Janissaries
The final effect of a large Janissary collection should be one of organisation, variety and military purpose, and JAN-26 adds another piece to that picture.
The Janissaries served an empire that stood at the crossroads of Europe and Asia and became one of the dominant political and military powers of the early-modern world. Their long history encompassed expansion, reform, political influence and eventually decline.
For a battlefield display, however, JAN-26 is most effective as part of the infantry mass. Mix the figures among JAN-21, JAN-22, JAN-23, JAN-24 and JAN-25 rather than isolating each code into separate groups.
Add the Zihril Nefer towards the point of assault and place command figures behind the line. With artillery or fortifications nearby, the collection can develop into a substantial Ottoman siege or battlefield scene.
The different troop types and equipment make this one of the more visually distinctive ancient and early-modern ranges to assemble.
Available from The Military Workshop – a detailed John Jenkins Designs Janissary release ready to reinforce the formidable infantry ranks of the Ottoman Empire.
