JR-38A – Wounded Jacobite Fleeing
A battlefield collection becomes more convincing when it shows not only attack and victory, but also the human consequences of combat.
JR-38A – Wounded Jacobite Fleeing portrays a very different moment from the heroic imagery normally associated with the Highland charge.
At Culloden, Jacobite casualties were severe. Government artillery and musketry struck the advancing formations before close combat, while the collapse of the Jacobite attack left many wounded men on or around the battlefield.
This figure can be placed moving away from the government line, perhaps passing warriors still advancing in the opposite direction. That simple contrast immediately tells a larger story: one part of the attack is continuing while another is already breaking down.
Used with restraint among attacking figures, JR-38A adds realism and emotional weight without overwhelming the broader scene.
