SQR-05N - Four Grenadiers, Simcoe's Rangers | John Jenkins Designs

This four-figure set depicts grenadiers of the Queen's Rangers, also known as Simcoe's Rangers, during the American War of Independence.

The set contains four marching grenadiers, providing collectors with a larger formation of soldiers representing one of the specialised infantry companies within the regiment.

The Queen's Rangers were originally raised in 1776 as a Loyalist provincial corps and subsequently developed into an effective military formation under Major John Graves Simcoe.

Simcoe assumed command in October 1777 and placed strong emphasis on discipline, marksmanship, endurance and practical battlefield training.

The regiment eventually incorporated several specialised elements, including grenadiers, light infantry, Highlanders, riflemen, cavalry and light artillery.

Grenadiers traditionally formed an important component of eighteenth-century infantry organisations and were commonly associated with demanding military duties and assault operations.

Their presence within the Queen's Rangers contributed to the regiment's ability to undertake a wide range of military operations.

SQR-05N depicts four grenadiers marching and is particularly suitable for building an organised infantry column or a larger Loyalist military display.

The set complements SQR-05 and the other Simcoe's Rangers releases, allowing collectors to recreate the varied composition of the Queen's Rangers.
