DD411
Moving rapidly forward this ‘Green Howard’ holds his No. 4 Mark 1 Lee Enfield rifle ready at a moments notice to take a ‘snap shot’.
Gold Beach was the central British landing beach during Operation Overlord. It was assigned to the 50th (Northumbrian) Infantry Division, including the 69th Infantry Brigade and the 6th Battalion, The Green Howards. The division’s objectives were to break through the German coastal defenses, secure the beachhead, and push inland toward key positions.
The Gold Beach series was created to represent these specific British troops rather than the more commonly depicted Sword Beach units. The collection includes infantrymen in a range of combat poses, along with specialist figures such as Bren gunners, medics, signallers, and Company Sergeant Major Stanley Hollis, V.C.
