This figure represents one of the Mexican infantrymen participating in the dawn assault on the Alamo Mission in San Antonio de Béxar, Texas, on 6 March 1836. After a 13-day siege, General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered a four-column attack against the mission. Equipped with a flintlock musket fitted with a socket bayonet, soldiers advanced rapidly toward the walls, where hand-to-hand combat followed once breaches and ladders allowed them inside.
