YORK-32N - Yorkist Archers | John Jenkins Designs

This three-figure set of Yorkist Archers represents soldiers serving the House of York during the Wars of the Roses, the series of dynastic conflicts fought for control of the English throne between 1455 and 1487.

The figures form part of the Battle of Bosworth Field collection, depicting the decisive confrontation fought on 22 August 1485 between King Richard III and Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond.

Archers formed an important component of English armies during the late medieval period. The longbow had played a prominent role in English warfare for generations, and archers continued to serve alongside billmen, men-at-arms and mounted knights during the Wars of the Roses.

The armies of this period were assembled from the retainers and followers of powerful noblemen, with livery colours and badges used to distinguish their allegiance. These contingents formed the fighting forces that participated in the many battles between the rival houses.

At Bosworth Field, Richard III was defeated and killed, allowing Henry Tudor to claim the English throne as Henry VII and establish the Tudor dynasty.

This three-figure set provides an excellent addition to Yorkist infantry formations, particularly when displayed alongside Yorkist billmen, knights and command figures to recreate the armies involved in this important battle.
