A Civil War infantry formation was far more than a line of men firing their weapons. Flags helped identify the troops, officers directed movement and drums provided an important visual reminder of military organisation. The McCords series brings these distinct roles together alongside soldiers in action.

The standing firing pose places a McCords infantryman in the middle of an exchange of fire. It is a direct and purposeful subject that helps establish the front line in a Confederate scene. Arranging him beside the kneeling firer creates variation in stance, while the charging figure can be placed farther forward to suggest a changing engagement beyond the firing position.

This 54mm figure is designed to sit naturally with the other McCords releases, giving collectors the chance to combine command, ceremonial and combat roles into a unified Confederate infantry scene.
