ACCPACK138 – Mediterranean/North African House | Thomas Gunn

Across North Africa and the Mediterranean, traditional buildings with thick walls, flat roofs and simple rectangular designs have formed an important part of local architecture for centuries.

These structures were particularly characteristic of rural settlements and small towns, where their practical construction provided shelter against the intense summer heat.

During the North African campaigns of World War II, houses and village buildings frequently became important military positions, offering observation points, shelter and defensive cover for opposing forces.

Similar structures also featured prominently in the colonial conflicts involving the French Foreign Legion throughout North Africa.

ACCPACK138 – Mediterranean/North African House by Thomas Gunn recreates a traditional regional dwelling, making it a versatile addition to historical miniature displays.

The building features a removable roof, allowing figures to be positioned inside, while the open, unglazed windows provide suitable firing positions for infantrymen defending the structure.

Approximate dimensions:

  • Length: 20 cm

  • Width: 17.5 cm

  • Height: 12.5 cm

Suitable for French Foreign Legion, North African, Middle Eastern and World War II desert dioramas, this building provides an excellent centrepiece for a fortified village or defensive scene.

Figures are not included.
