Omar Nelson Bradley (1893–1981) was a highly distinguished U.S. Army officer who commanded the 12th Army Group—comprising 1.3 million troops—during World War II, playing a pivotal role in the Allied victory in Europe. Known as "The G.I.'s General" for his concern for soldiers, he was the first chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and later promoted to five-star General of the Army.
