BBG136 – K&C ‘Heritage Classics’ Snowshoe Radio Team | King & Country
BBG136 “Heritage Classics – Snowshoe Radio Team” is a particularly interesting two-man German communications team equipped for the harsh winter conditions of the Eastern Front.
Both soldiers wear snowshoes, allowing them to move more effectively across deep snow that would otherwise make even relatively short journeys difficult and exhausting.
The radio operator carries the standard German Feldfunksprecher B backpack radio, complete with headphones and throat microphone. He is also armed with a Gewehr 43 semi-automatic rifle, while his companion carries an MP40 machine pistol and a hand grenade.
Reliable communication was essential to the effectiveness of any fighting force, and radio operators provided an important link between front-line troops and their supporting units.
The vast distances and severe winter conditions of the Eastern Front made that task particularly demanding, with men and equipment required to function despite snow, freezing temperatures and difficult terrain.
Like the other figures in the Heritage Classics collection, BBG136 is based on an earlier Battle of the Bulge release that has now been completely reworked for an Eastern Front setting.
With its snowshoes, radio equipment and varied weapons, this is an especially characterful set that will add something different to a German winter collection.
