BBG137 – K&C ‘Heritage Classics’ On Patrol #2 | King & Country
BBG137 “Heritage Classics – On Patrol #2” depicts another pair of German infantrymen heading out across the frozen Eastern Front.
The helmeted soldier carries a backpack together with his Karabiner 98k rifle, prepared for whatever may lie ahead. His companion has removed his steel helmet and appears considerably more relaxed, carrying his MP40 casually across his right shoulder.
The contrasting poses give this two-man set plenty of character. One soldier looks prepared and purposeful, while the other reflects one of the quieter moments that could occur between periods of danger and uncertainty.
Patrols were an important part of front-line life, whether checking enemy positions, maintaining contact with neighbouring units, reconnoitring roads and villages or securing the ground surrounding a defensive position.
BBG137 began life as part of King & Country’s earlier Battle of the Bulge collection but now returns as part of the new Heritage Classics series.
Updated painting, winter weathering and the move from Western Europe to Russia give these figures a noticeably different appearance and allow collectors to use the classic sculpts in an entirely new display.
