GG60-07 – 60th King's Royal Rifles
The 60th King's Royal Rifle Corps holds a distinguished place in British military history as one of the Army's earliest dedicated rifle regiments. Formed in the aftermath of the American War of Independence, the regiment broke away from the traditional tactics of line infantry by embracing speed, initiative and precision marksmanship. Armed with rifles rather than smoothbore muskets, these highly trained soldiers operated as skirmishers, scouts and sharpshooters, often advancing ahead of the main force to disrupt enemy formations and gather vital intelligence. Their green uniforms, chosen to provide camouflage, became synonymous with Britain's elite light infantry and set them apart from the familiar scarlet-coated regiments.
Throughout the nineteenth century, the 60th King's Royal Rifles served across the globe, including South Africa, India and the Crimean War. During the Anglo-Zulu War, riflemen demonstrated the professionalism and discipline that earned the regiment its enviable reputation, often fighting under challenging conditions far from home. Their adaptability and coolness under fire made them one of the British Army's most respected units.
At The Military Workshop, we believe exceptional miniatures should tell the stories of the soldiers they represent, and this beautifully sculpted figure does exactly that. Every element, from the distinctive rifleman's uniform to the carefully reproduced equipment, has been crafted with remarkable historical accuracy. The rich hand-painted finish highlights the intricate detail, creating a figure that looks superb whether displayed individually or as part of a larger Victorian campaign collection. For collectors seeking authenticity and premium craftsmanship, this is a miniature that truly stands out.
