PMRR-03R – Princeps, Red Shield (2 pcs) | John Jenkins Designs

The soldiers of the Principes represented experience and staying power within the Roman manipular legion.

PMRR-03R contains two Princeps figures equipped with red shields, adding another pair of infantrymen to the second line of the Republican army.

By placing the Principes behind the Hastati, Roman commanders retained a body of fresh, more seasoned troops ready to take up the fight when necessary. Behind them stood the veteran Triarii, creating a three-layered system that became one of the best-known features of Roman Republican warfare.

This two-figure set is particularly useful for introducing additional poses into a larger formation. Mixed with PMRR-02R and the six-figure PMRR-03RN set, the unit can grow without appearing overly repetitive.
