GGZ-30 – Zulus with Muskets
Although the traditional iklwa and cowhide shield remain the most recognisable weapons of the Zulu warrior, firearms were also present within the Zulu armies that confronted the British in 1879.
GGZ-30 – Zulus with Muskets from John Jenkins Designs offers collectors a different representation of the Zulu fighting man, depicting warriors armed with muskets rather than relying solely upon traditional weapons.
Firearms in Zulu hands varied considerably, and ammunition and marksmanship could present challenges, but their presence added another element to the threat facing British and colonial troops during the campaign.
These musket-armed warriors are particularly useful for adding variety to a larger Zulu impi, helping create a force that reflects the mixture of weapons carried into battle.
Available through The Military Workshop, GGZ-30 brings another interesting dimension to any Anglo-Zulu War collection.
