HITT-09A – Hittite Spearman

At the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC, the Hittite Empire confronted the forces of Pharaoh Ramesses II in one of the most famous clashes of the ancient world. While the great chariot formations dominate many accounts of the battle, thousands of infantrymen formed the essential backbone of the Hittite army.

HITT-09A – Hittite Spearman from John Jenkins Designs represents one of these warriors, armed with the thrusting spear that was a fundamental weapon of Hittite infantry.

Hittite armies drew troops from across the Empire, its subject territories and allied states. On campaign, these men endured long marches with relatively limited protective equipment, allowing them to remain mobile while supporting the army's powerful chariot contingents.

With its distinctive Bronze Age appearance and detailed weaponry, HITT-09A is an excellent figure for building the Hittite forces at Kadesh.

Available from The Military Workshop, this is a great addition for collectors fascinated by the armies and battles of the ancient Near East.
