INCA-18A – Inca Slinger

The sling was far more than a primitive battlefield weapon. In skilled hands it could deliver a stone projectile with considerable force and range, and Andean peoples had a long tradition of using slings for both practical and military purposes.

INCA-18A – Inca Slinger portrays one of these missile troops.

Inca armies employed slingers to engage an opponent before close combat, disrupting enemy formations and adding missile fire to the army's mixture of weapons. Slingers could carry ammunition gathered or prepared for the purpose without the logistical complexity associated with more elaborate projectile weapons.

For display, INCA-18A is best given some space behind or around the close-combat warriors. This visually separates his battlefield role and allows the action of the sling to remain clearly visible.

Several slingers positioned at different stages of their movement can create an especially effective missile line supporting the main Inca force.
