25203 – "Kaiserbaracke Crossroads" Type 166 Schwimmwagen, 1st SS, Ardennes 1944–45

The Volkswagen Type 166 Schwimmwagen was one of the most versatile military vehicles of the Second World War. Designed as a light amphibious reconnaissance vehicle, it served on every front and was particularly valued for its reliability and off-road capability. During the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944–45, vehicles such as the Schwimmwagen were widely used by German reconnaissance units and headquarters staff to maintain communications and gather intelligence in the snow-covered Ardennes.

The crossroads at Kaiserbaracke, Belgium, became an important junction during the Ardennes campaign as German forces attempted to exploit breakthroughs and push towards the River Meuse.

The Military Workshop's 25203 – "Kaiserbaracke Crossroads" Type 166 Schwimmwagen, 1st SS, Ardennes 1944–45 beautifully captures this iconic vehicle in one of the war's most dramatic campaigns. Rich in detail and historical character, this model is ideal for Battle of the Bulge displays and late-war German dioramas.

A superb addition for collectors of Second World War armour and vehicles, this piece represents the mobility and adaptability of German reconnaissance forces during their final major offensive in the West.
