ABHL-02 - American Standard Bearer | John Jenkins Designs

This individual figure represents an American colonial standard bearer during the Battle of Bunker Hill on 17 June 1775, one of the earliest major engagements of the American War of Independence.

The figure carries a flag, representing the importance of military colours and standards in identifying troops and providing a visual point of reference during eighteenth-century military operations.

American colonial forces occupied Breed's Hill in June 1775, constructing defensive fortifications overlooking Charlestown and the approaches to Boston.

When British troops launched repeated assaults against the position, the colonial defenders successfully repulsed the first two attacks, inflicting substantial casualties on the advancing soldiers.

The Americans eventually withdrew during the third assault after exhausting much of their ammunition.

The engagement became an important early battle of the Revolution and demonstrated the ability of colonial militia to resist experienced British regular troops.

Standard bearers were an important part of military formations, carrying colours that represented the identity and allegiance of the men serving beneath them.

ABHL-02 provides an excellent addition to a colonial command group and can be displayed alongside ABHL-01 Colonel William Prescott and the American Minutemen figures to recreate the defenders of Breed's Hill.
