ABHL-09B - Two American Minutemen | John Jenkins Designs
This two-figure set represents American colonial Minutemen during the Battle of Bunker Hill on 17 June 1775.
The figures are depicted walking with their muskets, including one soldier in a green coat carrying his musket in his right hand.
The contrasting figures and walking poses represent the varied appearance of American militia during the opening months of the American War of Independence.
American colonial forces constructed defensive fortifications on Breed's Hill, near Charlestown, as tensions surrounding Boston developed into open warfare.
On 17 June 1775, British regular troops launched a series of attacks against the American position.
The colonial defenders repulsed two major assaults before withdrawing during the third attack after exhausting much of their ammunition.
The battle demonstrated the effectiveness of American militia defending prepared positions and became an important event in the early history of the Revolution.
ABHL-09B is particularly suitable for representing militia reinforcements, soldiers moving towards the front line or troops assembling near the Breed's Hill fortifications.
The set can be combined with ABHL-09A and the larger ABHL-09N group to create a more extensive colonial infantry formation.
