ACE-22 – SPAD XIII S504, SPA 3, September 1917 – Capitaine Georges Guynemer
The SPAD XIII became one of the outstanding Allied fighters of the First World War, combining excellent performance with twin machine-gun armament. It was flown by many of France’s leading fighter pilots and later served with several Allied air forces.
ACE-22 recreates SPAD XIII S504 of Escadrille SPA 3, associated with legendary French ace Capitaine Georges Guynemer in September 1917.
Guynemer became a national hero in France and was credited with 53 aerial victories before disappearing during a combat mission on 11 September 1917. His courage, determination and remarkable combat record made him one of the enduring symbols of French military aviation.
