The struggle between Rome and the Celtic peoples of Gaul lasted for generations. Long before Julius Caesar’s famous campaigns, Gallic warriors had already demonstrated their military strength, even capturing and sacking Rome in the early 4th century BC.

AER-10A – Ancient Gauls, Warrior Charging portrays a warrior rushing into battle, representing the aggressive close-quarter fighting for which the ancient Celts became renowned.

The charging pose works especially well opposite Republican or Imperial Roman infantry, where the visual contrast between an individualistic Gallic attack and an organised Roman formation can create an impressive battle scene.
