Once the opposing armies met, ancient warfare became a brutal contest fought at extremely close range. Swords, spears and shields were used in a confused struggle where individual skill and courage could become just as important as formation.
AER-11A – Gaul Warrior Fighting captures one of these Celtic warriors already engaged in the battle rather than simply advancing towards it.
This fighting pose is particularly effective when paired directly with an opposing Roman or rival warrior, creating a small hand-to-hand vignette within a much larger battlefield.
