AF045 – The Flying Tigers P-40
Few aircraft are more instantly associated with the air war over China and Burma than the shark-mouthed P-40 of the American Volunteer Group – the legendary “Flying Tigers.”
Under the command of Claire Lee Chennault, American volunteer pilots flew against Japanese forces in China and Burma during the opening months of the Pacific War. Their distinctive fighters, with menacing shark mouths painted around the engine cowling, became one of the most iconic images of WWII aviation.
AF045 – The Flying Tigers P-40 captures the unmistakable appearance of this famous fighter and makes a superb centrepiece for an AVG display. It pairs especially well with AF025 – Flying Tiger Pilot Kenneth A. Jernstedt, bringing together both the aircraft and one of the real pilots who flew with this celebrated unit.
Available from The Military Workshop – a striking King & Country aircraft celebrating the legendary Flying Tigers and their place in aviation history.
