AG-04A – Cherusci Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

The Cherusci were a Germanic tribe whose name became closely associated with one of Rome's greatest military defeats. In AD 9, their leader Arminius helped organise an alliance of Germanic peoples against the Roman legions commanded by Publius Quinctilius Varus.

Arminius had received Roman military training and served with Roman auxiliary forces. His understanding of Roman tactics proved crucial when the Germanic warriors attacked the legions in the forests of Germania.

The resulting Battle of the Teutoburg Forest ended with the destruction of three Roman legions. Germanic warriors made effective use of spears, shields and the difficult terrain, where Roman troops struggled to maintain their customary formations.

AG-04A – Cherusci Warrior by John Jenkins Designs represents a member of this formidable tribe. The figure carries an oblong shield with a white background and red and yellow decoration.

Part of the Germanic Warriors collection, it is an excellent addition to displays recreating the Germanic resistance to the Roman Empire.
