AG-15 – Germanic Warrior Woman | John Jenkins Designs
The ancient Germanic tribes were frequently accompanied into conflict by their families, particularly during migrations and campaigns in which entire communities were on the move.
Roman observers described Germanic women as powerful figures within their societies. They encouraged the men during battle, tended the wounded and helped protect the wagon camps where children, supplies and possessions were sheltered.
Tacitus wrote that Germanic warriors could be rallied by the appeals of their women, who reminded them of the terrible consequences of defeat. Capture could mean enslavement, and the defence of the family was therefore closely connected with the determination of the tribe's warriors.
AG-15 – Germanic Warrior Woman by John Jenkins Designs represents one of the women associated with these tribal fighting forces.
Part of the Germanic Warriors series, this figure adds an important human element to historical displays, particularly those illustrating Germanic families defending their encampments during Rome's campaigns beyond the Rhine.
