AG-19 – German Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

The Germanic tribes of ancient Europe were among Rome's most formidable opponents. Living across a vast region of forests, rivers and marshlands beyond the Rhine, these peoples developed methods of warfare particularly suited to their surroundings.

Unlike the heavily equipped Roman legionaries, Germanic warriors often relied on speed, mobility and intimate knowledge of the terrain. Their weapons included the framea, a long spear that could be used for thrusting or throwing, while shields provided protection in close combat.

Their most celebrated victory came in AD 9, when Arminius united several tribes against three Roman legions in the Teutoburg Forest. The defeat had lasting consequences for Roman expansion into Germania.

AG-19 – German Warrior by John Jenkins Designs represents one of these fierce tribal fighters. The figure belongs to the Germanic Warriors series within Armies and Enemies of Ancient Rome and can be displayed alongside Roman legionaries or other Germanic figures to recreate the confrontations along Rome's northern frontier.
