ALM-03 – African Guard Standard Bearer

Standards played an important role in medieval armies, providing warriors with a visible rallying point amid the confusion, dust and noise of battle. They also represented the authority and identity of the commander under whom the soldiers fought.

ALM-03 – African Guard Standard Bearer depicts a member of the Almoravid African Guard carrying his standard into battle. Positioned near Yusuf ibn Tashfin or surrounded by other guard figures, he can form the visual centre of a larger Almoravid formation.

The height and movement of the standard make this figure especially effective when displayed among ranks of spearmen and archers.
