ALM-21A – Almoravid Spearman
During the late 11th and early 12th centuries, the Almoravid Empire became a major power extending from North Africa into Al-Andalus. Maintaining such an empire required substantial military forces, with infantry forming an important part of its battlefield strength.
ALM-21A – Almoravid Spearman represents one of the fighting men who formed these infantry ranks. His pose provides another variation for collectors wanting to build a substantial force around Yusuf ibn Tashfin and the other Almoravid command figures.
Combined with shield-bearing spearmen, archers and standards, the figure contributes to a much broader representation of an Almoravid army.
