AP-001B – Persian Sparabara Standard Bearer and Officer

The armies of the Achaemenid Persian Empire brought together troops from across an enormous territory stretching from Central Asia and the Indus region to Egypt and the shores of the Aegean.

Among the Persian infantry were the Sparabara, whose name is associated with the large shields used to protect formations of troops. AP-001B – Persian Sparabara Standard Bearer and Officer provides two important command figures for such a formation.

The officer gives leadership to the unit while the standard bearer provides a prominent visual rallying point among the ranks of Persian spearmen and archers.
