AP-25AN – Kardake Light Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

During the later centuries of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, Persian infantry formations reflected the many different military traditions of the empire's territories.

Among these soldiers were the Kardakes, troops whose historical origins and battlefield roles continue to be debated.

The Kardakes have been described as mercenaries, Greek-influenced heavy infantry and lightly equipped peltasts.

According to the historical information provided by John Jenkins Designs, the Kardake light infantry could be armed with javelins, swords and battle axes, together with wicker shields.

One particularly distinctive weapon was the sagaris, a bronze, pick-like axe associated with the Saka peoples and adopted by Persian soldiers.

AP-25AN – Kardake Light Infantry by John Jenkins Designs features three Persian warriors advancing with their sagaris battle axes raised.

The figures wear beige tunics with blue sleeves and carry red crescent-shaped shields.

Their dynamic poses capture the movement of advancing infantrymen preparing to engage an enemy at close quarters.

Designed to complement the other Kardake warriors in the Armies and Enemies of Ancient Greece and Macedonia collection, this set allows collectors to expand their Persian infantry formations.
