AP-25BN – Kardake Light Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

The Achaemenid Persian Empire incorporated soldiers from many different backgrounds, creating an army equipped with a remarkable variety of weapons and military traditions.

Among the infantry formations of the later Persian Empire were the Kardakes, whose precise military role has remained a subject of historical discussion.

John Jenkins Designs describes the uncertainty surrounding these troops, noting that ancient historians variously identified them as hoplites, slingers and peltasts.

Kardake light infantry were associated with several weapons, including javelins, swords and the sagaris, a distinctive bronze battle axe adopted from the Saka peoples.

Their shields could include crescent-shaped wicker designs, similar to the peltai carried by Greek light infantry.

AP-25BN – Kardake Light Infantry by John Jenkins Designs is a three-figure set depicting Persian warriors advancing with their sagaris battle axes raised.

The soldiers wear blue tunics with orange sleeves and carry distinctive green crescent-shaped shields.

Each figure is captured in a dynamic pose, with a leg raised as the warrior moves forward, preparing to deliver a blow with his axe.

Part of the John Jenkins Designs Achaemenid Persian Army collection, this set complements the other Kardake infantry and is ideal for recreating close-quarter battlefield engagements.
