AZ-01 – Moctezuma Xocoyotzin
Moctezuma II, or Moctezuma Xocoyotzin, was the ruler of the Aztec Empire when Hernán Cortés and the Spanish conquistadors arrived in Mexico in 1519. His reign represents one of the most dramatic turning points in the history of the Americas.
As Huey Tlatoani of Tenochtitlan, Moctezuma ruled an extensive empire supported by tribute from conquered cities and peoples. His meeting with Cortés began a complex series of events involving diplomacy, political manoeuvring, warfare and alliances that would ultimately lead to the fall of Tenochtitlan in 1521.
AZ-01 – Moctezuma Xocoyotzin provides a commanding personality figure and a natural centrepiece for an Aztec court, temple or ceremonial display.
Available from The Military Workshop – an impressive John Jenkins figure representing one of the most famous and historically significant rulers of the Aztec Empire.
