BBG132 – The ‘Flakvierling’ Sd.Kfz. 7/1 20mm
The need to protect German ground forces from low-flying Allied aircraft led to a variety of mobile anti-aircraft solutions during the Second World War. Among the most formidable was the Sd.Kfz. 7/1, combining the proven Sd.Kfz. 7 half-track with the rapid-firing 2cm Flakvierling 38.
The Flakvierling mounted four 20mm cannon together, producing an extremely high volume of fire against aircraft operating at low altitude. Although designed primarily for anti-aircraft defence, the weapon could also be devastating against exposed infantry, soft-skinned vehicles and other lightly protected ground targets.
BBG132 – The ‘Flakvierling’ Sd.Kfz. 7/1 20mm brings this distinctive German vehicle to the King & Country collection. The open fighting platform and four-barrelled weapon give the model an unmistakable profile and make it a natural centrepiece for a late-war German display.
It can be positioned protecting a vehicle column, beside a road or within a defensive position where its crew are scanning the sky for approaching aircraft. Add German infantry, vehicle guards and other winter figures and it becomes particularly effective in an Ostfront or Battle of the Bulge setting.
