Long periods of warfare on the Eastern Front involved far more than major tank battles. German vehicles, supply columns and temporary positions all needed to be guarded, particularly when operating across vast areas where the front line could be fluid and enemy troops or partisans might be nearby.
BBG133 – ‘Ostfront Vehicle Guards’ contains two German soldiers designed to add that everyday security detail to a vehicle display.
Their greatest strength is versatility. Position them beside a parked half-track, tank or truck, at a checkpoint, around a temporary headquarters or guarding equipment while the crew attends to other duties.
They are an especially natural accompaniment to BBG132. Placed around the Flakvierling, the pair helps transform a standalone vehicle into a larger scene showing German troops occupying and protecting a position.
