The early months of the Civil War saw locally raised companies rapidly incorporated into larger state regiments and brigades.

CS5V-11 represents another infantryman from the Marion Rifles, Company A of the 5th Virginia, preserving that individual company identity within the wider Stonewall Brigade collection.

Together with CS5V-09 and CS5V-10, he allows a small but convincing Marion Rifles formation to be assembled.
