CSBS-262728D – Dismounted Cavalry | John Jenkins Designs
CSBS-262728D is another group of dismounted Confederate cavalrymen representing the Army of Northern Virginia during the Battle of Brandy Station.
Civil War cavalry were expected to perform many different roles, from reconnaissance and raiding to escort duties and screening the movement of larger armies. When circumstances demanded it, mounted troopers could quickly dismount and fight much like infantry.
This tactical flexibility became increasingly important as the greater accuracy and range of rifled firearms made traditional massed cavalry charges far more dangerous than they had been in earlier wars.
The figures are particularly useful for creating a skirmish line, defensive position or scene showing Confederate cavalry temporarily fighting away from their horses.
John Jenkins has advised that these releases form part of the final group of Confederate dismounted cavalry, making them particularly interesting for collectors already building the Brandy Station series.
Will be available from The Military Workshop.
