CSBS-29 – Confederate Cavalry | John Jenkins Designs
CSBS-29 represents a Confederate cavalryman of the Army of Northern Virginia during the Battle of Brandy Station on 9 June 1863.
Brandy Station became the largest predominantly cavalry engagement of the American Civil War, with thousands of Union and Confederate horsemen fighting across the Virginia countryside in a confused series of mounted charges, skirmishes and close-quarter encounters.
By this stage of the war, cavalry had evolved far beyond the traditional battlefield role associated with earlier European conflicts. Cavalrymen acted as scouts, raiders, escorts and mounted infantry, capable of travelling quickly before fighting either from horseback or on foot.
The battle was particularly significant for the Union cavalry, whose performance demonstrated its growing confidence and effectiveness against J.E.B. Stuart’s previously dominant Confederate horsemen.
CSBS-29 is an excellent addition to a Brandy Station display and works naturally alongside both mounted and dismounted Confederate cavalry figures from the same series.
Will be available from The Military Workshop.
