CSPRJENKINS – Brigadier General Micah Jenkins – Palmetto Riflemen

Micah Jenkins was a South Carolinian soldier whose Civil War career rose from company command to the rank of Brigadier General.

Before the war, Jenkins had been involved in military education and helped establish the King's Mountain Military School. In Confederate service he became closely associated with South Carolina troops and eventually commanded a brigade in the Army of Northern Virginia.

His career ended tragically during the Battle of the Wilderness on 6 May 1864, when Jenkins was killed by Confederate fire during the confused fighting.

CSPRJENKINS brings this important South Carolina officer into the collection and provides a historical personality around which the Palmetto Riflemen can be displayed.
