CSWT-01 – Major Roberdeau C. Wheat – Wheat's Tigers
One of the most colourful Confederate formations of the early Civil War was the 1st Special Battalion, Louisiana Infantry, better remembered as Wheat's Tigers.
The battalion was commanded by Major Chatham Roberdeau Wheat, an adventurer and soldier who had accumulated considerable military experience before the Civil War.
Wheat and his men fought at the First Battle of Manassas in July 1861, where the Tigers took part in fierce fighting on the Confederate left. Wheat survived a serious wound received during the battle but was later killed at Gaines' Mill in June 1862.
CSWT-01 provides the essential command personality for a collection of Wheat's Tigers.

The Regiment served in Burnside’s Brigade at First Bull Run, taking an early part in the action. For a time it stood up well, but after two or three hours of heat and combat it fell to pieces and was of little value afterwards
